【Synopsis】Tang Shenwei, a native of Chengdu, was a famous medical scientist in the Northern Song Dynasty. Based on years of extensive collections, he compiled the "经史证类备急本草" in 1082. It contains 1,746 kinds of medicines in 32 volumes, of which more than 600 are ancient medicines. What has not been recorded in modern herbal books is the earliest and most complete epoch-making herbal classic of China. Tang Shenwei can be called the ancestor of pharmacy in the field of Chinese medicine.
